And so yeah, it's very natural.
- There's a lot of vintage rock bands out there but pretty big number of them are kind of like in this like stoner rock, heavy psych, like Black Sabbath inspired retro corner.
And we kind of like, we jokingly call the music we make Daddy Rock.
Because it's a little bit more just straight up sixties, seventies.
- And then when I joined the band the sound was like pretty established and so I tried to like think back on what I could re-listen to, to bring something to the table.
So I was, you know, think about like the Heart records and that whole era I was pretty inspired.
- Yeah, my dad played guitar a lot and I got a lot of music from him.
Grand Funk is a big one for us.
I know that's really important to me.
♪ Jane ♪ ♪ It's been a long time without you ♪ ♪ Jane ♪ ♪ And I am not the same ♪ - I hope we can tour a bunch, that would be amazing.
- I love it.
It's always a blast when we get on stage and like we just try to have fun and keep it loose and just, yeah, just have a good time.
- I feel like I only exist or know my identity when I actively make music.
♪ And I knew it oh yes I knew it ♪ ♪ I said Jane ♪ ♪ It's been a long time without you ♪ - I always felt like music was like something that I could like rely on and it was like kind of like, just always there, like whenever.
It was like kind of healing for me and it was also just always fun and just something I could always count on, you know?
- I think too, I've always played with people that I'm friends with so it's an excuse to get together with people.
Something to do that's not just going to work everyday.
- Yeah, I've tried to take breaks before but as long as I'm listening to music I just feel like too inspired to not participate, which is maybe a little cheesy, but like, I dunno, there's something about it.
(chuckles) Can't get away from it.
