Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(lively music) - Hi, I'm Joe Wos of Cartoon Academy.
This is a Cartoon Academy quick draw lesson on doodling.
Cartoonists have to come with a lot of different ideas for things to draw.
Every day it's something different.
And sometimes I'll look around the room and see different objects and just sort of draw those.
But, sometimes I really get stumped for an idea.
Whenever I'm really stuck for an idea, I like to doodle.
(lively music) I'll show you what I mean.
I'll just sort of put a little scribble on my page.
And then I'll just look at it for a little bit.
I think about what it looks like to me.
Do you see eyes, a nose, a mouth?
Is it something you might see at the zoo, or on your way to school?
And then I turn the drawing to change my point of view.
Does it maybe look like a ducks bill or a potato chip?
It could be just about anything.
You're limited only by your imagination, and your imagination has no limit.
I like this one right here.
So, I look for the basic shape and form of something familiar to me.
This one looks like a bird.
I have a line here.
(Sharpie scratching) Circle.
(Sharpie scratching) (lively music) (Sharpie scratching) Just a quick little lines, and a few simple shapes, And my drawing is done.
There's a toucan.
This is just one great way to come up with ideas whenever you're stuck.
Just scribble and see what you can turn it into.
And as always, be sure to sign your name, take pride in your work.
