- I'm proud to tell my family that I'm changing the global footprint.
I'm proud to tell my family that I'm changing history and making the world a better place than how I found it, one unit at a time.
(upbeat music) A hydrogen-power fuel cell.
We take hydrogen and put it in a fuel cell and it reacts with oxygen to create electricity.
So my biggest clients are Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon, Walmart.
I previously worked for Tesla for for some years and that's where I got my love of green energy, going towards that.
- Different organizations and companies in the region, not only in New York State but across the country, are expanding and taking advantage of different renewable energy sources.
So that just means more people can be part of the overall renewable strategy.
When I joined Plug Power at the end of 2020, we had roughly 750 employees, and now we're hovering just under 4,000 employees globally.
So a ton of expansion over the last three years.
The reason for that is just increased demand and needing to keep up with the needs of our customers and different organizations that we're partnering with.
I think there's two misconceptions in particular.
One is that somebody has to have prior hydrogen experience and that simply isn't the case.
We look for people in a variety of different industries and backgrounds, disciplines like automotive, industrial, skilled labor.
I think the second misconception is that you have to have a degree.
There are certainly roles here at Plug Power where we require an advanced degree or a certification, but certainly not every position.
- So I think I found my niche when I got into manufacturing versus any other industry.
This is the industry for me.
It takes a unique type of mindset and person to not mind the manual aspect of the job, but also learning the new skills.
We are really productive.
Our production needs grow.
Our customers want our product, and we need people.
We need good people who wanna work, who wanna make a career for themselves and make a home for themselves here at Plug.
